History

TeX was created by Donald Knuth in eary 1970s when he was writing his book and he did not find anything to creat high quality documents. Detailed history of latex can be seen here.

My thoughts on latex

This is a wonderful typesetting system I ever came across for writing mathematical content. It is just impossible to write mathematics without latex. Every time I use latex I thank Donald Knuth a million times and I use it every day almost surely. So I thank Knuth everyday with probability 1. Latex is generally pronounced as lay-tek [as in technology]. Latex is amazing for making presentations also.
